Mattresses and cushions for garden furniture

Mattresses and cushions for garden furniture When looking for beautiful accessories to furnish the interior/exterior and maximize comfort, many people forget about such a simple item as sofa cushions. While simple as they may seem at first, they can make resting more enjoyable. The use of cushions for garden furniture has become extremely relevant when you need to tweak the coziness level of wooden or plastic pieces of furniture.

What are the requirements for accessories Cushions for garden furniture are slightly different from the counterparts that are used for the sofa. There are more stringent requirements for them, as they must be: Distinguish themselves by the stability of the structure of the filler in relation to the loads from the weight. Have stable dyes that are not harmful to clothing. Have resistance to all kinds of deformation. Resistant to mechanical type of damage. Not to burn out by sunlight. An extremely important nuance is the absence of small decorative elements that can cause discomfort. It is better not to use a knitted braid, buttons, which can be accidentally caught. Stake on a quiet, pleasing to the eye colors and unusual shape. To the product looked the most advantageous, often make several identical pillows. Very harmonious looks design of all chairs with the same accessories. How to choose a fabric The material for sewing cushions and mattresses on garden furniture is chosen based on many nuances. The main requirements: It must be made in the form of a removable type of cover, which will give the possibility to clean the filler and wash the textile. Be visually appealing. Be characterized by hypoallergenicity, because otherwise the use of the product will not be possible. Be ideally suited to the composition of the landscape. Be easy to care for. Differ the presence of specialized impregnation, which will ensure resistance to moisture. If possible to be of mixed threads (contain in equal proportions fibers of synthetic and natural origin). Be pleasant to touch, but at the same time durable and dense. Leather and synthetic analogues will not meet these requirements. In the heat they will bring only discomfort vacationers. An extremely important indicator is the purpose of the pillow, and if you put it under the back, the freedom of choice of materials is quite great. If it is a mattress cushion or seat, it should be made of dense textile. For the cover you can use fleece, cotton with impregnation, tapestry, microfiber, fayber, furniture fabric or canvas material. Linen and silk should not be used, as they crumple. Silk will deteriorate in the first day of use (there will be pulls). It is also important to exclude materials with a long pile and fur – they are quite difficult to wash. If you have rags, you can use them. At the same time, the fragments for the future pillow should be chosen so that the composition is identical – this will eliminate the deformation of the fabric. In special cases, old T-shirts or sweaters are used for pillows, and such material will not give shrinkage, and will play not only an aesthetic function, but is also able to keep warm.

Soft mattresses for garden furniture are most often made in the form of a rectangle or square. When choosing the shape of an accessory for garden furniture, you can be guided by the type of furniture. For the seat of chairs it is most often a square, for the back of a bench 2-3 modular squares, and for a sun lounger and even a rectangle. Often for seats make a round cushion. Unusual look cushions sewn in the Turkish manner. Along with the classic forms make rollers, which can be added to models with mattresses or armrests. These types of accessories allow you to comfortably sit outdoors if you want to take a nap or sunbathe. Do not ignore the children.

For them, they make pillows in the form of letters, hearts, candies, flowers and toys, made in the type of a roller or squiggle. Type of filling For mattresses, garden cushions and comfortable bolsters use different types of padding. Most often use sintepon – it has a moderate price, available on sale, helps to create volume with a small volume of raw materials. If there is a hollofiber in the store, you can use it as well. So the cushions will be quite light. But for seat modules and mattresses, they are definitely not suitable, because they will quickly compress with constant use. Not wanting to use polystyrene balls to stuff the cushion. They are very specific because the balls will move under load from the weight, thus creating a sinking effect. This type of stuffing cannot be called pleasant to touch, and even if you stuff the duvet cover with this composition, you will not be able to use it for lying or sitting. The best material was latex. Since the variant of the natural type is not so easy to buy, you can buy artificial latex. This filler is purchased for stuffing mattresses, including orthopedic models. It will not crumple at regular and palpable weight loads, it is durable and will not cough after a while, and also allows cleaning. If the store is missing such a material, you can buy a simple foam rubber, but in terms of parameters it is somewhat worse. Its lifespan is less, but it will do its job for at least 4-5 years. If you have an old orthopedic mattress left over from a crib, it is acceptable to use its filler. For example, if you use coconut coir for a mattress, then you can make outdoor recreation not just pleasant, but also useful for human health What else is important to consider? To sew cushions for garden furniture with their own hands, you should be guided by this or that dacha furniture. If you take plastic chairs as the basis (for example, from Ikea), then you can sew rubber bands on the corners to the cushions, so that the accessories do not slip on the back or the seat. If the pieces of furniture are made of solid wood, it is acceptable to make textile slipcovers cushions for the backs, tying them on the ties on the sides. For a bench, a model with no ties will suffice. When choosing a material, it is worth looking to make sure that it is not slippery, because otherwise the cushion will not help to make the furniture comfortable. Before you cut out the product, it is worth to perform dekatirovanie – iron the new fabric with steam, from which it can give shrinkage, but in the future any deformation will be excluded. It is worth to iron the fabric through a thin cloth on the wrong side, so that the surface does not form lasso. Do not use for stuffing wool from an old blanket or mattress.

coller sleep

Crumpled filler is capable of forming bumps, which will not save quilting seats and cushions. This rule also applies to an old fur coat – it will not be suitable for padding, but it can be harmful to health. When making a cushion for the back, you should not stuff it with different types of filler, if there is not enough of one kind. The load will get different pressure on the body, which can ruin the posture. How to decorate decorative pillows with your own hands, see the following video

By building a tree house in the garden, you will simultaneously instill in your children a love of nature. Of course, the tree house should have a floor that serves as a support frame. The tree house has an open platform on which you can climb using a fixed ladder or a rope ladder.

Safety Precautions
Make sure your treehouse is securely built.
Take enough time to do this.
The exact method of construction depends on your garden setting, but you can use these step-by-step instructions as a guide.
You can choose from a variety of wood materials.

Materials needed
Boards, wooden beams, roof tiles or corrugated sheet

Choosing a tree

Choose a tree with the right structure and make sure that the tree you choose is healthy – this is extremely important because it will provide a strong and sturdy structure for your cabin. Suitable types of trees include beech, oak, maple or large spruces. A good base for your lodge will be a tree with a strong and sturdy trunk, heavy branches, and roots firmly buried in the ground. The tree should not show signs of disease or parasites that would weaken the tree house. If you are unsure if a tree is suitable for building a treehouse, it is recommended that you consult an expert. An expert knows all about tree preservation and how to treat disease and kill parasites, and can help you choose a good tree before you start building the cabin!

Check if you need permission

Before you start, check to see if you need a special permit to build a treehouse. If necessary, contact your city council and see if there are any local guidelines, laws, or other regulations that may affect building a treehouse (e.g., height restrictions). In some cases, you will need to apply for a permit before you can start building a treehouse. Also, there may be restrictions if you have legally protected trees in your garden.

It is also advisable to talk to your neighbors; this will help prevent them from complaining and maintain friendly relations. A tree house can worsen the view from the windows of their homes, or it can peek into their rooms and disrupt their privacy. You should also contact your insurance company to make sure the tree house is included in your property warranty. If it is not, then any type of loss or damage caused by the tree house will not be covered by your insurance.

Choosing the right location

After choosing the most suitable tree, you can decide what type of cabin you want to build. To build a standard cabin on a 3 x 3 meter tree, choose a trunk with a diameter of at least 30 cm. You can calculate the diameter by measuring the circumference of the trunk at the spot where you want to build the cabin with a tape measure. Then divide the result of the measurement by the number π (3.14) to get the diameter. It is also important to check beforehand how the base of the cabin will be positioned on the tree. Carefully mark the places where you will need to make notches in the trunk and branches. Leave a large enough free space around the trunk of the tree. The thickness of the support beams depends on the specific situation and the size of the platform.

Tree house supports

There are several ways in which you can secure a tree house to a tree with supports. Regardless of which method you choose, remember that the tree will sway from the wind. Therefore, make sure that the treehouse will not be damaged as a result of this movement.
You can choose different ways to attach the lodge:

1) Mounting with screws to the tree.
This means that the platform support beams are screwed in place directly to the tree trunk. This is the most common way to attach platform supports. But this method is most likely to damage the wood, although you can minimize this danger if you use the right materials.

2) “Floating” method.
In this option, the tree house is suspended from sturdy high branches using ropes, cables, or chains. However, this method is not suitable for all types of trees that you can choose to install a heavy lodge. For example, it is ideal only for attaching a platform but no heavy fencing.

3) Using support poles.
Support poles are dug into the ground next to the tree and are not directly attached to the tree itself. A large enough space must be left around the platform to allow the tree to swing freely in the wind. With this method, the likelihood of damage to the tree is minimal.
Access to the tree house
Before you start building the tree house, you need to decide how you will get into it. Above all, keep children’s safety in mind! The means of accessing the treehouse should be sturdy and safe.

There are several different designs:

1) Rope ladder.
You can make such a ladder from a rope and several short steps attached to the rope one under the other and going straight down to the ground. It takes some getting used to using a rope ladder, and you may feel unsteady and wobbly when climbing it.

2) Fixed Ladder.
This is a standard ladder that you can buy at various stores. It provides a quick and easy way to climb the tree house.

3) Fixed Ladder March.
A fixed ladder is the safest way to get to the treehouse. If you choose to use a fixed ladder, it is recommended that you add a railing or handrail to the side of the ladder for extra safety.

Should you build the lodge so that branches go through it, or is it better to cut them down? Obstacles can affect the design of your treehouse. It is often difficult to change the design when you consider the asymmetrical shape of the tree. But once completed, you will look at your structure with great satisfaction!

Safety first
Before you start building your treehouse, remember that the possibility of falling is the most serious danger. You can take the following steps to reduce this danger:

1) Don’t set the treehouse too high.
Setting the treehouse too high is dangerous for children who will be using it. Therefore, do not install the platform higher than 1.5 to 2.5 meters.

2) Install a safety fence or railing around the perimeter of the platform
A safety fence or railing around the perimeter of the platform will prevent children from falling. The safety fence or the railing of the perimeter platform must be 70 to 90 cm high, the distance between the vertical struts must be 10 to 15 cm.

3) Create a soft surface on the ground beneath the lodge
You can lay soft natural materials, such as shavings, on the ground surface under the lodge. This alone won’t prevent a fall, but it will provide a soft landing!
Attachment Points.
A tree with V-shaped branches gives extra sturdy support for the lodge, as it makes four attachment points instead of two. Drill holes in the four attachment points on opposite branches. Use a 10 mm drill bit and make sure that the holes are horizontal and at the same height (A). If the mounting holes are not aligned, the platform will not be level.
Support beams.
Measure the distance between the fixing holes on both sides of the tree branches and mark this distance (A) on the two support beams. Make sure this distance is the same on the left and right side of the support beams. Starting from this anchor point, draw a line 5 cm long on the left and right (total length 10 cm) and mark the ends of this line. Do the same on the other end of the beam. Drill two 12mm diameter holes on both sides of the marked ends of the marked line. Then saw a 12mm wide groove between the two drilled holes with the jigsaw.

This groove is necessary so that the tree can swing freely in the wind without splitting the tree trunk or damaging the platform.

What kind of wood is better to buy a bed? Such a question many people are asking and trying to find the right answer. And many are also worried about their children, so the question of what wood is the best bed for a child can also often be heard in furniture stores.

Wooden beds have always been the standard of quality and reliability, an important element of a healthy full rest. Thanks to its environmental properties, natural materials and minimally used chemicals for treatment, the rest is really harmonious, and this is not the whole list of advantages over metal beds and beds with other types of materials.

A bed made of wood is distinguished by its durability, comfort, it can serve its owners for a very long time and thus significantly save the family budget when buying, as well as affect the quality of sleep.
In this article we will try to find out what kind of wood beds are made of, what is the difference between all these types, and we will try to choose the most comfortable bed for everyone.

Soft woods.
The first category includes coniferous trees, as well as aspen, linden, alder. The second group includes oak, birch, ash and other types of trees. Next, we will look at the characteristics of each type of tree and determine the pros and cons.
In our country conifers are trees, which, unfortunately, are not much left, they are still actively used in the manufacture of furniture, including beds. But they are considered soft varieties of trees, which can easily crack under heavy loads on them.

But there is still demand for products made of such trees, because although the strength is not much, but the price is more than affordable for every average resident of our country. Therefore, products made of conifers are very valuable to our customers.

Also, these types of wood contains resin, which has antiseptic action – which means that the smell of wood in your room is ensured, to the same extent wood insects will not be trapped in furniture

Alder wood is soft, has a fairly uniform structure that makes it easy to work, and has a beautiful reddish color. Thanks to its physical properties, alder is one of the favorite types of wood for making beds.

In addition, psychologists have their say on the matter, they say that alder has such noble traits as cohesion and kinship, so it is especially favorable to buy furniture from this wood for newlyweds and couples with a child.

When installing and connecting parts in such a bed, you need to be as careful and cautious as possible, as from nailing can go splintering, so it is better to connect everything with screws and bolts. Another positive detail – alder is resistant to water, so you do not have to worry about spilling water on it or accidentally getting it wet.

One of the main advantages of aspen wood is that it lasts a long time in water, but it doesn’t warp or crack when it dries. In addition, aspen also has properties such as softness and lightness, it hardly cracks. Therefore, beds made of aspen are also common among stores and the price for such products is not too high, so many people can easily buy a bed from aspen and enjoy the comfort, because it is also the right choice.

This type of wood is quite vulnerable to all external factors, so linden is used mainly for making interior parts. If the air in the house is dry for a long time – this can lead to cracking of the bed, from water, moisture fungus appears, and if the bed stands in the sun for a long time – it can simply change color.

Such a not very favorable structure of wood leads to the insignificant popularity of products made of this type of wood.

Of the pluses, you can note the resistance to mechanical damage, and a warm and pleasing to the eye shade is able to win the hearts of many people.

If you buy products made of pine – you can be sure that the pleasant smell of the forest will forever appear in your home. In addition, the wood has medicinal properties, pine scents have a pleasant effect on the human nervous system, can give peace of mind and comfort to all who rest on such a bed.

Pine wood bed is resistant to both biological effects (fungi, microbes) and mechanical damage.

Beds made of ash fall into the category of “expensive, but worth it”, and the advantages of this wood species make products made of it out of competition with others.

In terms of long-term use and vulnerability to external factors, ash is far ahead of all other types of wood: it does not crack with time, humidity does not play any role in the room, and mechanical damage is also extremely rare.

People who have allergic reactions should think about when buying and choosing the material for the bed. And the strength of such a bed is confirmed by many parents who have bought such a bed for their kids – they are still in excellent condition.

Bed Florence

About this type of wood there is no need to talk for a long time, everyone already knows the reliability and durability of oak. Oak wood is distinguished by its durability, strength, density, hardness and heaviness. Today it is one of the few species that have these properties and is relatively affordable.

In our country, products made of Gevea are not yet so well known, but they are rapidly gaining popularity. It is a tropical tree, which is used in recent years for the manufacture of beds, and other furniture.

Due to the fact that this type of wood grows in tropical conditions, the color palette of this species of wood is incredible. Hevea beds are known for their strength and durability.

In operation, these trees are not very fastidious – do not respond to humidity, do not succumb to the influence of the temperature, resistant to frost, unheated rooms will not be an obstacle to the use of beds from this type of wood.

Bed Sicilia

Products made of beech cannot help but please with its aesthetics, and putting a bed in the bedroom the owners will have an atmosphere of comfort and tranquility. Also, with proper treatment beds of beech resistant mechanical effects, not cracked, not splintered. They are quite affordable and cost a little less than oak.

How to hang a hammock in the garden: the choice of location and methods of attachment

We tell you how to choose the right site for the hammock and hang it on trees, homemade frame, wall or ceiling.
On the dacha site it is nice to relax while lying in the shade. To do this, you only need to know how to properly hang a hammock in the dacha. We will tell you about the different ways of fastening, including poles and beams, as well as where it is better to place it.

Choose a site for the hammock

Such a place of rest is most convenient to arrange near a lake, pond or pool, on the far side of the garden. But a suitable corner will not be found in every area, so the design is often hung in the house, gazebo, on the porch, balcony or terrace. In any case, when choosing a site, you need to be guided by several criteria.

No direct sun or drafts. So you don’t get sunburn or freeze.
A level, clean surface below. Pits will fill with water during rain – it will be uncomfortable to climb into the hammock. There should be no snags or rocks underneath.
Away from noise. It is best to choose a place away from the road, garage, water pump, transformer.
The distance between the supports is 3-4 meters. The spacing should slightly exceed the length of the leaf (+30 cm), so that it does not sag too much after installation.
The diameter of each tree and post is approximately 20 cm. The support must be intact, without splits or other damage.
These rules are not so difficult to observe. For the rest – it all depends on the layout of the site and your taste. Of course, it is best to fix the structure so that from it opens a beautiful, soothing view. True, a picturesque outdoor space can have one disadvantage.
Resting near water and in an enclosed area is spoiled by mosquitoes and other insects. But there is a way out of this situation, too – a mosquito net or a thick canopy.

How to hang a hammock on trees

As we wrote above, the hammock in the summer house can be hung between two trees or come up with a homemade frame. One option is the poles buried in the ground or beams located under the ceiling. Vertical posts are made removable and stationary. Sometimes a roof is attached to them. The base can also be a wall of the house with a sunk in front of the post. On the terrace or pergola, the canvas is stretched between the wall and the existing bars. Consider all methods one by one.
If the construction will be fastened over branches, it is better to choose long rods – so that it will not come off when swinging. The branches should not be thin or damaged. A simple hanging bed you can make with your own hands. You will need rope or straps, thick fabric and two carabiners-hooks. The video shows how to fix the hammock on a tree.

You can hang the product without carabiners – simply by tying strong knots. In addition to the obvious advantages (budget, simplicity), this method has disadvantages. Mounting often looks unaesthetic, it is problematic to adjust and untie it.
Necessary tools

Strong rope with a diameter of at least 8 mm and a length of 2-3 m.
Cambrick. An elastic kapron tube that is put on the rope at the part where it contacts the bark. Instead of placing a piece of thick cloth or leather under the loop.
Sequence of Operations

Tie a simple conductor or figure of eight knot on one side of each sling. Instructions are provided below.
Thread the free end through the eyelets or eyelets on the webbing and into the loop on the other end.
Attach the structure to the tree (preferably over a branch) with a “Boa Constrictor” knot. The hammock should hang at a height of 1.5-2 meters. So that in a hanging position the distance from it to the ground was not less than 40 cm.
You can determine the optimal height by multiplying the distance between the supports by two and dividing the resulting number by three. If you have done everything correctly, the construction will resemble a banana. Try to sit down on it, and then gradually lie down to check whether the fabric is twisted or not. The mounts should not wobble, shift, or rotate while checking. Also pay attention to the supports – you need to make sure they do not creak or bend.
